Privacy Policy Update: Transparency in Anonymous Analytics

Transparency First

At the heart of Zin apps is a commitment to privacy. Today, we’ve updated the Privacy Policy for both Zin Feed and Zin Flow to reflect a small but important change in how we understand app usage while maintaining our strict privacy-first principles.

What’s Changed?

We have introduced Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service, to both apps. Consequently, our privacy policy now includes a dedicated “Usage Analytics” section.

Why Aptabase?

As a developer, understanding how the app is used is crucial for prioritization. Which features are popular? How often is the app launched? Traditionally, analytics have been a privacy nightmare, often involving IP tracking and personal identifiers.

Aptabase is different. It is designed to be:

  • Privacy-First: It does not collect personal data, IP addresses, or unique device identifiers.
  • Anonymous: The data collected is purely functional and aggregate.
  • Compliant: It aligns with our goal of collecting only what is necessary to improve the product without knowing who is using it.

Continued Commitment

Despite this update, our core privacy pillars remain unchanged:

  • No Personal Data Collection: We still do not collect your name, email, or any identifiable information.
  • Local-First Storage: Your content, feeds, and library remain on your device and your personal iCloud account.
  • Minimal Dependencies: We use Bugsnag for crash reporting and now Aptabase for anonymous analytics—that’s it. No third-party ad trackers or data sharing.

Transparency and Trust
